Budget Wishlist to Holistic Horticulture Development

Dear Sirs,

The 2 lakh crore rupees fruits, vegetables and floriculture industry of India has become the best bet for the forward-looking small and marginal farmers to enter into India's second Green Revolution.

For achieving the 4 percent annual growth in agriculture, the horticulture sector has all the potential to become a major contributor to our growing economy.

In a view to encourage this sector, in addition to NHM and Ministry of Food Processing Industry schemes, the government shall initiate steps to augment the growth in the horticulture sector by providing one time capital grant of 75 percent for setting up of district -level processing and marketing centres under public-private partnership programmes involving the cluster-based  small and marginal farmers, the prospective agro-based SME Entrepreneurs  and the government agencies.

More over, the 65000 crore rupees agri loan-waiver schemes announced by the government has not reached all the genuine small and marginal farmers including the ailing small farmers in floriculture. Hence, the government shall also fully waive the medium term agri- loan availed by them to give further boost for its growth.
