Hi,
Pls find below the pre budget quote from Mr Deepak Jalan, Managing Director, Linc Pen & Plastics Ltd.
“Government’s focus & increased fund allocation on literacy programs will help increase the market for educational items like pens, which shall help the stationery manufacturers.
It is also expected that the income tax rates shall be further rationalised, which should also help trigger consumer products demand.
We have proposed to the government to reduce customs & excise duties on the capital goods related to the writing instruments industry, which will help more investments in the modernisation & capacity expansion, thus helping the Indian writing industry to become alternative source for the world, after China, for stationery products.
We have also proposed to increase the export subsidies like duty drawback & DEPB by 3-5%, and if that happens, we will become more competitive in the International markets, and the exports of writing instruments from India may jump multi-fold.”
Regards,
Alethea
