Quote from Jay Singh, MD, Volvo India Pvt Ltd on expectation from FM on budget

Hi,

Please find below the quote from Jay Singh, Managing Director, Volvo India Pvt. Ltd on expectations from FM on the budget. Also, please find attached his picture.

“In the current volatile economic scenario, industries in India are looking forward for the government to play a vital role proactively. I would like the see further increase in investment for the infrastructure sector. This will help keep the momentum of the economy going. The JNNURM initiative was a welcome one for the CV industry.  Another sector that needs to be given due attention this budget is the Health.

It is essential that we relook into the taxation policy prevailing currently. The cumbersome method of central, state, district taxation system on sale, commodity movement, consumption must be replaced by a unified national general sales tax. The investments in rural areas, like ‘The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act’ (NREGA) that was introduced during the last budget must definitely continue during this tenure.

The ideal situation would be where industry grows with society, where the space separating low & high class is reduced, where labour laws are aligned to industrial growth, where public governance is an act for other countries to emulate.”
