Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd

Budget Expectations / Wish List
Mr. P. K. Ranade
Joint Managing Director, Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd

Duty cut for CFL & other energy saving devices

We wish the Finance Minister to exempt CFL from the current Excise Tax rate
of 4% in this budget, which would not only facilitate Compact Fluorescent
Lamps (CFLs) on a lower price to the end -consumer but would also promote
the usage of energy efficient CFLs in the country and will help in saving of
Power.

We would appreciate if government may create a level playing field by
extending the benefits of excise tax rate TO ZERO% to procure the inputs for
the CFL manufacturing process.

WE would also wish for a uniform VAT rate throughout the country. The
differential rate of VAT across the country makes it difficult for many
producers to earn a fair playing field. Sometimes government is also at the
receiving end when the producers would detour their imports into a state
where the VAT is low and thereby losing a sizeable amount of taxable
revenue. This could be undone with the application of a uniform VAT across
the country.

Make BIS mandatory with star ratings for all electrical devices

The government should also make BIS star rating mandatory for all electrical
devices across the country which will further extend benefits of safe and
competitively priced products to the end-consumers

More Public - Private Partnership in Power Distribution System

It is welcome initiatives by some of the State's Electricity Boards' going
for public-private partnership process, through in a small way. To improve
the efficiency of the power system as a whole. The successful execution of
incorporating the private players into the distribution of the power should
be encouraged by introducing well designed "Franchisee "system for private
players.
