Budgetwishlist for 2009

Thrust to areas which would create more employment and generate demand for products and services in both rural and urban areas. For example, investment in infrastructure, housing, exports, IT industry should be enhanced.
 
Fillip to agriculture production to improve rural economy and create more jobs in rural areas. This would have a salutory effect on the overall economy of the country.
 
In the field of education, availability of loans at cheap interst rate for higher education so that India emerges as a country with resrvoir of skills and talent. Also, some sort of incentive for children in rural areas to go for secondary education so that they are discouraged from migrating to cities and taking up minial jobs and put undue pressure on civic amenities there.
 
Exemption limit for Health Insurance should be raised to encourage people to cover themselves adequately against hospitalization.
 
Reduction in taxes at personal and corporate level which would result in higher Govt. revenue. Reduction in taxs has more often resulted in better compliance and higher revenue to the Govt. Move gradually towards thershhold exemption limit of Rs. 3 Lakhs for personal I. Tax over a period of 5 years as was promised by BJP to show the voters that Congress is no less friendly towards the people than BJP.Give more incentives for saving and investment.
 
Bring money stashed away in Swiss Banks and other Tax havens and allow it to be invested in productive areas.
 
FD interest from Bank deposits should be made exempt from Income Tax to bring FD at par with Mutual fund investment.
 
Also, special incentives for the youth who are the future, backbone of our country and have voted UPA Govt. to power and have great expectations from this Govt. which can be fulfilled through the Budget. Just to inform you that I am 60 years old but I can see a ray of hope in the eyes of our youth from this Govt.
