Budget- suggestions

 Sir,

The Finance Minister should abolish the discrimination between

Men and women with regard to Income-Tax exemption limit and allow the same limit to

Both. Almost all earning women have earning husbands whereas most men have

Unemployed and non-earning women as wives. Let the exemption limit be Rs.200000

across the board.

Dearness allowance should be exempted in calculating taxable

income. Dearness allowance is a compensation for rise in prices of essential items

and it always lags behind the increase in cost of living. Not only a person does not get

dearness allowance in proportion to rise in cost of living, he has to pay additional tax

for the insufficient dearness allowance also.

Why should the super rich agriculturists not pay Income Tax ?

A hard working private sector employee earning Rs. 20000 a month in Kerala has to

Pay income tax whereas an agriculturist in Punjab having an annual agricultural income

Of Rs. 600000 need not pay any income tax. Tax agricultural income but give a higher

Income-tax exemption limit, say Rs. 300000.

To mobilize resources for welfare schemes, the Finance Minister

Should announce  Voluntary Disclosure Scheme to bring back black money from tax

Havens abroad. The Govt. and the individual can share the black money kept abroad on a

50 : 50 basis.

Considering the growing population of Diabetics in India, the

Finance Minister should reduce the prices of life-saving drugs including glucometers,

Test strips etc. by reducing customs and excise duties on them

Yours truly
