Budget wish list

Hi,

I am Parthiban working with Virtusa India private ltd., Chennai as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer. As a software engineer my expectation from Budget2009 are as follows.

1. Increase in investment limit for individuals – Increasing the investment limit for individuals will in turn bring the investment into the capital market so that the FIIs role in Indian stock market can be challenged against the domestic small investors.

2. Abolition of Security Transaction Tax – This will attract the small investors to invest in the capital market with out any hesitation. In this point of time our capital requires more liquidity rather than income from STT to the government, once the liquidity is high in Indian capital market which in turn attracts the FII with out any concession to them.

3. Introduction of short term gain exemption - In this volatile market having holdings more than a quarter is very risky. Government should extend their safe hands to the investors to safe guard their investment in the form of relaxing short term capital gain. This will definitely attract more liquidity in flow into the system which in turn attracts FII to the system.

4. Increase in Tax Exemption slab limit for salaried professionals - Due to the recession in software industry individuals need to increase their own savings so that they can run the family even if they job cuts in India continues for a short while.

Looking for the Government to extend their helping hands to the small scale investors at least in this recession time.
