Budget Wishlist-Symphony Services

Amitava Roy, Chief Operating Officer, Symphony Services

"India’s transformation journey seems set for growth with a stable government in 2009.  With the Prime Minister’s 100 days agenda to bring reforms in the healthcare and education sector the foundation of economic and social welfare would be strengthened. This year’s budget should focus on India Inc’s inclusive growth.

As we tide over the current global economic conditions, the IT industry expects the Finance minister to extend the STPI scheme to the small and medium scales industries.

Also, India is one of the leading offshoring destinations in the world; however, our lack of proper infrastructure truly fails us. The Government needs to have a focus on delivering pragmatic policies to improve telecom, road and port infrastructure with stringent deadlines of deliverables. Major projects such as the Metro Rail Project in various cities around India, the National Highway Development Programme need to be implemented with the promise of functioning within a reasonable amount of time. The Indian industry urges the government to play the role of an enabler for speedy implementation of projects."
